New Website for Unemployed Ohioans (7/20/10)

Director Lumpkin released a memo announcing a new webiste for unemployed Ohioans called Ohio Here to Help. Ohio Here to Help is a one-stop source of information for Ohio’s unemployed workers and their families, and is divided into several sections. OhioRED Training Seminar (7/15/10)

OhioRED training seminar is on Wednesday, August 4th from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the Air Center, 4020 East 5th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. This training is designed to be similar to the June 17 training, and is mandatory for anyone requesting OhioRED write access.

Coverage includes the current Rapid Response Delivery Method, which was implemented in June 2009, and also the data entry process for using OhioRED. Coverage also includes some recent OhioRED database changes, and a preview of some of the future changes that are being worked on to make the database more user-friendly. Updated Rapid Response Procedures Manual will be handed out to everyone in attendance.

Additional Rapid Response Allocations to Local Areas (7/2/10)

Ohio’s unemployment rate remains above the national average, resulting in the need for One-Stops to serve larger numbers of customers. At the same time, Ohio, like many states, is facing a reduction in Workforce Investment Act (WIA) formula funds.In response to the statewide reduction in WIA funds, and the increasing number of customers, OWD will make available $15 million of Rapid Response statewide funds to serve dislocated workers. OJT NEG Announcement (7/2/10)

DOL announced the award of $75 million in ARRA funds for on-the-job training in the form of National Emergency Grants to 41 states, including Ohio! Ohio was awarded $3,865,742. The DOL press release can be viewed by clicking here.

Tracking System End of Year Webinars Next Week (7/1/10)

Area 7 and Non-Profit Technologies will hold three Gazelle/MIP end of year webinars next week. These webinars are for all the counties, will cover the same topic at each session, and will last for 1 hour. These webinars will be for broadcast only. Any questions should be sent via e-mail after the webinar. Please pre-register for one of the following webinars:

  • Bulk closing of support accounts
  • Creating new fund sources

Department of Development (DOD) recently made some changes to the responsibilities of their Business Service Representatives (BSR). A map and spreadsheet have been created to help you associate the right BSR with Rapid Response (RR) teams. Email and phone information is included in the map legend. Workforce3One has launched a new site: the OJT Toolkit. The OJT Toolkit provides you with customizable OJT templates and forms including marketing materials, contracts, and monitoring documents. SwipeIt News: Data Changes (7/1/10)

Beginning Friday, July 2, new customers will start seeing new data fields upon registration in SwipeIt. For many counties already collecting this information, the changes will be minimal. The new data set will allow counties to report demographics such as race, education level, and primary language of customers.

   
 
   
 

Dislocated Worker Surveys Data Entry (7/1/10)

ODJFS is offering to do your RR worker survey data entry into SCOTI for you. Once a layoff event is entered into OhioRED and surveys are completed by the workers, fill out this Cover Sheet, place it in an envelope on top of the Worker Surveys, and mail the package to:

PY10 Rapid Response Funding Application (7/1/10)

The PY10 Funding Application has been released in two forms. The PDF is a completable form that can have all of its information entered through Adobe Reader, and will autosum all of your budget numbers into the appropriate blanks. It is also available in a Word document.

As of PY10, funding applications are required to go through each area's respective Regional Rapid Response Coordinator, before being sent on to the State.
